Paloma Spritzer

Paloma+2.jpg

I have been loving this refreshing beverage this spring. While I love a good Classic Margarita and Ranch Water brings a smile to my face, sometimes I just want a break from lime. This does the trick!

Bonus, this recipe is free of added sugars.

Always use 100% agave tequila. My favorites are Don Julio Blanco and Casamigos.

While I usually use tequila, I have been obsessed with mezcal lately., which gives it a little more a smoky flavor. My favorite mezcal is from Casamigos as well, black bottle.

Below I give portions but frankly I follow this rule of thumb:

  1. equal parts grapefruit juice and tequila or mezcal

  2. a squeeze of lime

  3. fill with ice

  4. top with Topo Chico or club soda

Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
  • ½ lime juiced (about 1 Tbsp)
  • ¼ cup tequila (100% agave)
  • ¼ - ½ cup Topo Chico or club soda
  • Ice

Instructions:

  1. Optional to salt rim of glass (see note).
  2. Pour grapefruit juice, lime and tequila in a tall glass and stir. Fill the glass with ice and top with Topo Chico. Enjoy!

Notes:

To salt the rim of the glass - squeeze a lime around the edge of the glass. Fill a small plate with Sea Salt, about ¼ cup, and turn the glass face down into the salt. You can choose to do the whole rim or only half.
