Muscle Testing - a window into the body

Muscle Testing (MT) or Muscle Response Testing (MRT), is a reflex test on your body to see what is going on inside of it. This form of testing can show us an issue and how to resolve it; a window into the body to discover what the body already knows.

Many chiropractors us muscle testing, Applied Kinesiology (AK), based on the belief that specific muscle weaknesses can signal, or suggest, internal problems and show solutions to offset those problems or weaknesses.

I think of muscle testing as a tool that can be used in SO many different ways. Just like water is a tool that we can use in different ways: drink for hydration, cook with, clean with, play and swim in, etc. Both water and muscle testing can work for us differently depending how how we use the tool.

Did you know that our conscious mind is only about 5% of all brain activity? Our subconscious mind is the other 95%… ruling our body (how we breath, blink our eyes, take a step, etc.) without our awareness as to how it is working. Comparing the two minds, our conscious mind and what we are aware of, is only a tiny fraction of what we really know! Muscle testing allows us to tap into that 95% of brain acitivy and get feedback from our body about what is really going on.

How muscle testing works

We are all energetic beings; everything around us is made of energy including our food, products, thoughts, emotions, beliefs and more. Like a magnet, energy is either attracted to something or it is repelled from it; we either resonate with energy or we don’t. If we resonate with something, then we will be strong in the presence of it. If we do NOT resonate with something (dissresonance), we will become weak in the presence of it. We are able to test this resonance, or dissresonance, with Muscle Testing.

The traditional way to test resonance is by applying gentle pressure to someones arm and seeing if they can hold their strength. The person being tested may hold an object with one hand, or have it placed on them, while holding the other arm straight out in front. Gentle pressure is then applied to the free arm. If the person can keep their arm strong, that implies that they resonate with the object being held or they can stay strong in the presence of that object. If the object does NOT resonate with them, or makes their body weak, then the free arm will get weak when gentle pressure is applied (even if ever so slightly).

The first time I had Muscle Testing applied to me was in 2018 with Dr. Lewis Cone in Dallas, TX. I tried SOOO hard to stay strong for EVERYTHING; however, if I did not resonate with something or it caused my body stress, I could not hold my full strength at all, not even a little. My arm was SOOO sore the next day… ha. You can read about my experience from this post on Instagram.

Statements and thoughts can be tested too… remember everything is energy (Emotion = Energy in MOTION)! Example “My name is Elena (my real name)” or “My name is Palmer (my sister).” I can stay strong with the statement that includes my real name, because every part of my being resonates with it. On the flip side, my body will get weak when I say “My name Palmer (my sister)” because that is a lie and does not resonate as a truth for me. I can test my muscles in various ways to see if I resonate with that statement or not.

Using a Pendulum - ideomotor REsponse testing

Ideo (idea) Motor (muscle) Testing is form of muscle testing using a pendulum to show us the answers, rather than applying pressure to someone’s arm. I prefer this method when testing. With the pendulum, someones strength or fatigue does not play a factor in the testing and therefore, I find the results I get from the pendulum are much more reliable.

When using the pendulum, we are testing from the subconscious mind, which is 95% of brain activity. The subconscious mind is much more aware of the energy around us. With the pendulum, an idea from the subconscious (idea), sends a nerve response to the muscles in the fingers creating movement to a pendulum (motor). This movement shows us what the subconscious picks up. FYI… you have to train the pendulum to move in a certain direction for your “yes” and your “no”.

“Ideomotor testing means a muscular response to an idea (ideo = idea, motor = muscle). Muscle testing is a form of binary biofeedback - the measure of our body’s response to a stimulus. You’ll often hear muscle testing described as a way of talking to the body. Since our muscles are controlled by our nerves- we can present the body with a stimulus and understand whether it strengthens or weakens the nervous system. When we introduce physical items such as food and supplements, we see how they impact the nervous system.” Amanda Mirabella

how we use Muscle TEsting for our clients

We use Muscle Testing to get biofeedback from your body to discover the root causes holding you back from optimal and vibrant health. We can also use muscle testing to co-create your best path forward to living your best life.

Optimal health is more than just the health of the physical body; health encorporates the body, the mind, and the spirit. You can read my blog post on The Pyramid of Health to learn more about the relationships of these three aspects and our health.

Because everything is made of energy, including our thoughts and emotions (Energy in MOTION), we can use muscle testing to find out what aspects of our being are stressed, may need some support or attention:

  • Physical Body - functionality and toxic load creating disfunction, or dis-ease.

    • Toxins (mold, mycotoxins, environmental and industrial chemicals, heavy metals, etc.)

    • Pathogens (bacteria, viruses, lyme and parasites)

    • Body System functions

  • Lifestyle Factors - nutrition (diet), exercise, sleep, stress, sunlight, water, air

  • Emotional and Spiritual - factors in the subconscious mind affecting our behaviors, actions and decisions

Muscle Testing allows us (anyone and everyone) to look inside the body to see what is going on and what it needs. When we have this information, it is much easier to understand what work needs to be done to reach vibrant health.

Great news… Muscle Testing does not need to be done in person. Distance is not a factor of Energy (E=MC2); therefore, muscle testing can be done virtually, just as easily and as well, as done in person.
